Weimaraner Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Drako has had a rough beginning to his young life. His mother was a dog named Lexie who was owned by a teenage boy. Once the boy left for college Lexie was abandoned and left to fend for herself. The parents of the teenager considered her 'not their problem.' Lexie roamed from house to house going to whoever would feed her and let her sleep on their deck. He and his four siblings were born in January of 2014. Lexie and her pups continued to roam from place to place seeking food and shelter. A neighbor noticed one by one, the pups and Lexie slowly began to disappear, but Drako still hung around. He got along well with their dogs and foster ...     Beautiful Blaze had a bit of a rough start to her life. She was picked up by Winnsboro animal control when she was approximately 2 months old. This pound is almost always at capacity, and the constant noise of the kennel took a toll on Blaze, she became stressed due to the noise and confinement to her pen. Blaze then went to a foster home where she escaped, but never left the property. It was over a mo514nth before her foster was able to touch her and coax her to come inside.     RDV513-CP Oh my Adam! What do you say about an 11 month German shepherd male puppy that is not defined by just that, puppy? Our boy Adam is big, energetic, strong, energetic, beautiful, energetic, happy, energetic, loving, and energetic and did I mention that he was an energetic puppy. All kidding aside Adam is a wonderful portrait of the breed in all aspects, graceful, presence, athletic, intelligent, warm nature and an unshakable protective instinct.     Claw previously lived his life tied outside in the hot Louisiana sun, along with 3 or 4 other dogs. A volunteer from Patrick's Pals stopped by for 9 months with food, vaccinations and spoke with the family educating them about the proper environment a dog should live in. They agreed to surrender Claw and his sister so they could be part of our program. Claw is friendly, affectionate and listens very well. He tends to be a little cautious around children, because they are closer to his level and he just wants to say hello! He does well with other dogs.     Rescue Dog Village is trying to raise funds to help save 11 Heartworm positive dogs that need a second chance. When RDV pulls a dog from the pound, we are responsible for their care. We don't know if they have HW or any other sickness. If we can't raise the funds we need, we will have to make a decision on who to treat. Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease in pets. Heartworms are foot-long worms that live in the heart, lungs & associated blood vessels of affected pets, causing sever lung disease, heart failure & damage to other organs in the body. A link below will take you to our fundraising website where we tell ... (Read More)each of their stories and have photos of each dog. These faces of 11 sweet souls who tested positive for Heartworm can't live without treatment. They have been saved instead of euthanized because this disease CAN be treated. All of our funds for medical expenses have been exhausted. We need your help to pay for their treatment and recovery so ALL 11 can live the lives they deserve for another ten to twelve years. PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN AND PASS THE MESSAGE ON TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS Here is the link to our online fundraiser, it is easy to use and we will continue to do updates on all the dogs till they are in their fur-ever home. https://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/heartworm-positive-dogs-second-chance/227234 GO TO RESCUE DOG VILLAGE AT: www.rescuedogvillage.com (Less)

FROM THE FOSTER: Daphne is being fostered with me here in WNY and has been here for 4 weeks. She is the most lovable little girl around. She basically just wants to be held all the time. She loves to sleep in my lap or sometimes she gets in the chair behind me and goes to sleep. She craves human touch. She has become fast friends with my 2 yr. old Aussie mix and they just love each other. Daphne wasn't sure how to play when I first got her but my Callie was persistent in teaching her what to do with a ball and a squeaky toy and a Pepsi bottle. They play constantly now. Daphne knows sit, down, crate, wait and leave it. She is very food ... (Read More)motivated so she is easy to train. She has a ton of energy but my Callie helps to wear her out. Daphne loves to ride in the car with her head hanging out the window which is a huge step for her as she wouldn't even get into my car when I first picked her up. She walks good on a leash, she loves going to doggie daycare and the dog park where she runs like she has never been able to run before. The girls at daycare quickly fell in love with her and they said she just loves everybody, both canine and human. She is house trained but doesn't know how to let you know she needs to go out so we just keep her on a schedule and it is working out fine. She doesn't seem to mind cats as the people downstairs have cats and she shows no interest in them when they are in the windows. She does well with kids but I have not had her around kids under 7. She is fine with both men and women. She will make somebody a very lovable and faithful family member. Daphne is my new foster girl here in WNY. She is just the sweetest little girl and so very beautiful. She loves to be loved. She would kiss your face all day if you let her. She is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, good on a tie out and is great in the car. She loves to go to the dog park and run like crazy with whoever will run with her. She was fast friends with my 2 yr. old Aussie and they both love to be outside. They love to play so my house is like romper room when I am home. Although they do play hard, they both settle down when asked. Daphne goes to daycare once a week and has become a fast favorite of the girls there. They say she is an awesome little girl who gets along with everybody. She loves my landlords 10 yr. old and also my neighbors' pre-teen daughters and husband. She seems to love everybody and anybody. Daphne is a smart little girl and is food motivated so will be easy to train. She knows 'sit' and 'crate' and is getting pretty good at 'down' and 'leave it' and 'wait'. I am amazed at how quickly she is learning things. She is still a puppy so lots of chew toys are a necessity to keep the house in one piece. She knows where the toy basket is and only takes things from there. When she is in the car she stays in the back seat and when her head is not hanging out the window, it is resting on one of my shoulders. She is a good girl and will make the right person/family very happy one day. I am so glad someone seen the potential in her and pulled her from an uncertain future. PLEASE GO TO OUR WEBSITE AND FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, SEE MORE PHOTOS, AND INFORMATION ON THE DOG: www.rescuedogvillage.com Daphanie is a 35lb spayed female Catahoula cur. She is approximately 9 months old. She was picked up down south inside the city limits of Winnsboro, Louisiana by animal control. A group of volunteers from Patrick's Pal's (our partners down south) noticed the beauty and potential in this sweet girl; they decided to pull her from city pens this past July. At first she was so scared, the animal control officer could not get her to come out of her kennel. However, with a little love and patience the volunteers were able to convince her; she has grown more and more confident each day under the loving care of her southern foster! She was a bit underweight when she came into rescue, but is now at an ideal weight. She is in excellent health, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. (Less)
